Are school exam results always fair?
Exams are test that everyone has to do. Many people declare that they are crucial and help us to know what we really know.
At schools all the subjects are evaluated with exams, which can overwhelm students. They can cause many problems for students.
On the one hand, In countries like Spain the system of schools are based on exams and not learning. The teacher explain the topics to us and when we finish one of them we have an exam to show that we have understood the topic. It is based on memorizing and not really learning. This is not good. We usually study a topic and when we are at the end of the school year we have forgotten the first topic that we had studied.
Moreover, in other countries students haven't got exams. Their system is based on learning and not memorizing. At the end of the school year teenagers have learned more than memorizing a book. Furthermore, they learn with daily activities. Studying does not seem so boring.
On the other hand, exams are necessary in education. Students and teachers have to know what they really know. Many students are fake and cheat in exams and they don't study. For example because of covid-19 our school year have been interrupted and we have to continue studying by computer. Almost no student has failed online exams while in class they failed all the exams.
Exams can produce stress in young people. Many problems are related with exams. Selectivity is a series of exams that you have to do to have access to the university. It can be really harmful for the health of teenagers because they have a big responsability of their future. If you have a bad day, you don't have the oportunity to fix your mistake.
To put all in a nutshell, exams are indispensable and we need to do that, but I think that we should learn in a different way and not only memorizing from a book.
I totally agree with the systems based on learning and not memorizing and I think that teachers and students should organize themselves and don't put the exams on the same day or even week.
