Sleeping like a log
Sleeping is an activity that everyone does everyday and that is obligatory and necessary. It is essential in our day to day and specialists affirm that sleeping at least 8 hours per day would reduce many problems. For example, not sleeping increases heart problems, and the risk of diabetes.
For many reasons, sleeping is essential in our health and everyone should sleep the hours their body needs.
In our society it is very common to hear that people do not sleep the necessary hours, either because they sleep too much or too little. Although there are people that think that the only problem associated with sleep is sleeping less than recommended, it is not the only problem. Sleeping more than necessary is another problem that could produce other problems in our health.
Nowadays, teenagers and people with high positions in their jobs have sleeping problems. It is due to addiction to mobile phones or video games or due to having a lot of stress.
On the one hand, having a mobile phone could help teenagers in many occasions but they are a serious problem at the sleeping hour. To this we must add that many teenagers spend the time they should be sleeping watching tv series or films and thinking about their problems. Nevertheless, they are not the only problems that do not allow young people to sleep. Problems related with stress and anxiety are very common in teenagers because of studies, and the time they should be sleeping they are studying or doing homework.
On the other hand, during the quarantine we lived last year due to COVID_19 our sleeping habits changed. Teenagers usually go to sleep at 7 o’clock and they wake up at 9 more or less to class online. In other cases, teenagers didn’t sleep during the night so they slept during the day, but much less time. Talking about adults, the financial problems, the fear of losing their employment and the fear of being infected with covid, reduced their sleep hours, producing insomnia.
Not sleeping well has many consequences and to reduce sleep-related problems we could do different activities, for example we should have a schedule to sleep and wake up every day, do sport, have a healthy and varied diet, avoid the use of computers, tablets or mobiles and have dinner an hour before bed.
From my point of view, sleeping well is essential because if we don’t sleep at the correct time, the next day we will be tired and we will not have enough energy to do the things we should. Moreover, everyone should rest. In my case, during the week I sleep less than 8 hours because of studies, but during the weekend I always try to sleep 8 hours.
